Twenty alumni from the Class of 2010 teamed up March 4 for Rossman’s 29th annual Spirit Day basketball game. The high school seniors went head to head with fifth and sixth graders, making a valiant effort despite the wacky games concocted by P.E. teachers Larry Huusko and Jenna Lucas. The alumni handicaps included imaginative challenges like: "Barrel Ball," in which the alumni team played ball while holding up Kan Jam goals; "Daytona 500" in which only alumni riding on scooters could shoot, pass or dribble; "Relative Game," in which relatives of the alumni created some friendly

As we look out across the sea of faces in sixth grade these days, something seems a little different. Everyone is smiling, swaying and moving gently up and down to his or her own rhythm, like blades of sea grass, bobbing gently in a warm blue sea. Then, the topic of discussion changes and the students’ excitement becomes palpable. The once quiet, gentle movements shift and bodies begin to bounce a little higher, introducing more randomness into the group rhythm. The quiet sea turns more turbulent.

“Ok guys, turn it down a notch. You’re making us seasick up here!” we say with a smile...Read more

Last weekend was a big one for Rossman athletes. Fifth and sixth graders represented our school at the annual Rossman School Soccer Tournament. The entire school started the weekend off in style on Friday by wearing blue and gold to show their school spirit and cheer on our team. The pre-game spirit day worked! Rossman played games against five different teams and went undefeated! Our team scored sixteen goals in those five games and had zero goals scored against us.

Thirty students participated in the tournament and many more students cheered on their classmates. One of the most...Read more

The Class of 2009 made a valiant effort in the 28th annual Spirit Day basketball game on March 6, but the fifth and sixth graders defeated the high school seniors 71-14. However, the alumni team proved victorious too, showing a great sense of humor and impressive skills amidst the 13 imaginative alumni handicaps dreamed up by P.E. teachers Jenna Babcock and Larry Huusko.

Twenty-six members of Rossman’s Class of 2009 returned for the hijinks. The returning seniors represented John Burroughs School (10), Ladue High School (3), MICDS (6), Parkway Central High School (1), St. Louis....Read more

January was a very busy month in P.E. We just finished up our floor hockey unit, ending it with a tournament held at Rohan Woods last Saturday. It was a great day of hockey, and we had about 20 fifth and sixth graders there representing Rossman School. This was a round-robin type of tournament in which Rossman played each team in a twenty minute game. It was a great way to showcase the skills our students had been learning and working hard on for three weeks.

We also had our annual Jump Rope for Heart event on Friday January 30. Over 100 students participated in jump roping,...Read more
